Larry Thompson
Managing Partner
lthompson@tricapequity.com

For more than twenty years, Larry Thompson has been working with both small businesses and large organizations to help them improve their operations and increase profitability. Larry’s focus has been to improve operational efficiencies, enhance bottom-line profitability, create dynamic and effective teams, coach senior management to excellence, and to enhance the overall productivity of organizations.

Beginning in the technology industry with Digital Equipment Corporation (the 2nd largest computer manufacturer in the world), Larry was part of DEC’s preeminent Consulting Services Division, working with clients all over the world. More recently as a partner in BSA Ventures, LLC, Larry co-owned and managed a small business in the hearing industry. Serving as Chief Operating Officer, he implemented the same principles and processes learned over the past two decades to help design a dramatic turnaround returning it to profitability and expanding the company across the state of North Carolina. These efforts lead to the sale of the company in less than two years for a 500% return on investment. That company continues to grow and, due in large part to the plans/processes put in place, has grown an additional 30% since the sale.

For the past five years, Larry has taken these skills to the non-profit arena helping restructure the Development activities for Easter Seals UCP North Carolina & Virginia, one of the largest human services non-profits in the country. As the Vice President of Development, Larry has successfully reengineered many of the facets of the organization’s fundraising activities and been an integral part of its Virginia Strategic Growth Initiative.

Larry is also an accomplished professional speaker having conducted management and sales training as well as executive roundtables discussing critical business issues facing all companies. His courses on Sales Success, Negotiations and Public Speaking for Executives have been taught in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Larry is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Management Information Systems and a concentration in Business Analysis & Process Design.
