Tri-Cap is a private equity firm that is positioned to acquire undervalued, ongoing business concerns.  TCEP will utilize an LBO or Leveraged Buyout funding strategy.  Our funding strategy will involve a combination of institutional financing, business owner financing, TCEP investment and potentially mezzanine financing. 

Our primary target will include businesses that are either based in the Southeast United States or have a significant portion of their operations in the Southeast.  In addition, we will search for businesses that can be easily relocated to the Southeast and work with state/local governments to utilize tax and other incentive programs for job creation.

From the business owner’s perspective…selling a business is a significant financial event. The General Partners at TCEP understand that each situation is unique and we work hard to uncover the “real” reason an owner wants to sell their business.   When looking at the lower end of the middle market, the motivating factors are generally limited to the following:

• Owners are aging out

• Health concerns

• “BOB” (Business Owner Burnout)

• Flat-line or decreasing sales

• Need a new challenge

• Owner “pocketing” cash/fear of being caught

• No exit strategy or succession plan

It is our mission to create an orderly exit for the business owner.  Most business owners in this space do not want to continue to work the business for an extended period of time…they simply want out.  Since each situation is different, we will work with the owner to develop a transition plan as a component of the purchase agreement.  That way, expectations are in writing and both parties are committed to the success of the acquired business.

At TCEP, we have an extensive network of intermediaries that generate a large and consistent volume of new acquisition opportunities.  Furthermore, the General Partners have access to deals (through affiliated firms) before they are exposed to the open market.
