Tri-Cap Equity Partners (TCEP) is an equity group that was formed to acquire privately held underperforming and/or undervalued lower middle market companies (revenues of $3-$25 million).  This segment of the private market is vastly overlooked; however, it has the potential to provide a higher return on investment than a traditional equity group transaction. 

The market is currently saturated with equity groups wanting to provide liquidity to business owners.  These groups only want to invest in companies with seasoned management teams in place and a certain revenue figure with the corresponding EBITDA number.  Furthermore, they are seeking a company with a fragmented customer base that is evenly dispersed.  Essentially, they are looking for companies that are “perfect” in every since of the word.  That is the primary reason TCEP is targeting businesses in this space due to the fact that there are very few perfect businesses that fit the above mentioned criteria.

David Boykin, the managing member of TCEP have owned and operated several businesses in this target market.  Furthermore, some of our principals are business intermediaries and consultants, so we have first hand knowledge of how businesses operate in the lower middle market.
